Chrislam: The New Religion

by J.L. Robb

There seems to be a new religion going around named Chrislam. Have you heard about it?

Chrislam is described as “neither Christianity or Islam” and the religion is based in Nigeria. Described as a “new, syncretic religion” it intermingles Christian and Islamic beliefs. I am not sure how one could intermingle the beliefs since they are diametrically opposed.

The Quran refers to Christians and Jews as “people of the book” but feel Islam is far superior. When Islam conquers new land, Jews and Christians can remain in the land as long as they do not try to convert any Muslims, as long as they pay a high tax (Jizya) and as long as they do not insult Muhammad, which carries a death penalty.

To be a member of a mixture of Islam and Christianity called Chrislam, one would have to believe that God is really disappointed in Jews and Christians but loves when Muslims behead the infidel, which is everyone but them. You would have to believe that Jesus was not really the Messiah but simply another messenger, an ordinary prophet.

Jesus did not fight his way off the cross but surrendered himself so that all the world could have an opportunity at the next life, the good and eternal life.

There is no message in the Bible that indicates that God made a mistake and really wanted the covenant to be through Ishmael rather than Isaac-Jacob. God does not make mistakes; people make mistakes. And one of the mistakes that some churches are making is to equate Islam with Christianity. The New Testament doesn’t instruct Christians to kill the infidel.
