The empty tomb of Jesus is the best-attested fact of ancient history. (Sure, there have always been some liberal “scholars” who denied this despite evidence, but people seek out this tiny minority to support their preconceptions.) The tomb was empty. What happened? There must be an explanation. In fact, several explanations have been attempted, but most fail with even a cursory examination. The rest fail when examined in light of historical context.
