World peace is on most international leaders' agenda and civilians' wish list. But if the annals of history are a trustworthy barometer of man's accomplishments, world peace is at best a transient state of affairs, at worst a capricious castle in the air.
According to the Bible, only God will accomplish lasting peace on earth when Christ returns to reverse the damage caused by the Fall. Many of the world's problems are the oeuvre of unseen spiritual forces, since we are living under the ominous spectre of a spiritual warfare woven by the princes of the world systems that include religion, polity and the media. These princes are among the angels in Satan's power structure.
Therefore, we, the Body of Christ, can make this world a tad less distressing while we await the return of Messiah to defeat these dark forces. One thing the Body must do is wrest the Church back from the liberals, the evangelical left and the moral relativists. For they are the cause of the dissolution of orthodoxy and virtues founded on those Biblical principles which once were held up as a standard.
The Church must also distance itself from the accelerating influence of the Emergent Church movement with its antichrist deceptiveness, which is the seed of dark spirits, and those of Rick Warren's ilk. In the case of the latter, I believe that Rick Warren's Purpose-driven manifesto and books are heretical. Peace on earth will remain fleeting unless the press seize the media back from the liberal strongholds and their agenda. Thanks to the liberal slant of the western media and government much damage has been done in the last millennium, and this, to unravel the moral fabric of the world's western civilisations. I'm referring to the advancement of many insidious causes and the ethical dilemma they create: the civil union bill renders non-married couples de facto without community responsibility and raises the number of single mothers. The legalising of gay marriages, which is an abomination to God however much Ellen Degeneres would like to obfuscate the written Word or how adamant Hollywood is in featuring happy gay families, will destroy the family institution. The pro-choice agenda since Roe v. Wade will contribute to more babies being slaughtered, and women suffering from guilt, in the post-modern First World bloc than in any other millennium. The passing of the anti-smacking bill, unless reversed right now, will create a nanny state in New Zealand not too far away in the future.
Of utmost urgency is the need for the media to fulfill their original agency as government watchdogs and whistleblowers without fomenting partisan interest. Failure to do this only serves to form public opinion as opposed to informing the public. In the past, reputable journalists presented viewers and readers with only what actually happened without having to dispense an editorial. It also wasn't acceptable for news anchors and readers to manipulate their facial registers in order to sway the public. Thus, a restoration of honest and disinterested reporting will emancipate the mass from the fetters of liberal one-sidedness and put them on the driver's seat of managing their own thoughts. A truly free press committed to the truth will also play a role in preventing corruption in officialdom.
Israel has the most important contribution to make towards some semblance of peace in the world. This land, that was promised to the Jews by the God of the Bible, is the apple of His eyes and Israel must resist surrendering to the whims of the European Union's anti-semitic bureaucrats by parcelling her land to her Arab neighbours. Doing so, contrary to counterfeit wisdom and pipe dreamers, will not convince the latter not to wipe her existence off the face of the map. For Israel's enemies, the Arabs, are sworn to keep Allah's commands in the Koran (Surah 5:51) and Hadiths (Sahih Bukhari 004.52.176) to kill every single infidel, who includes all Jews and Christians. What's more, proximity and opportunity will only give Hamas and Hezbollah the mandate to intensify their insurrection against a weakened and contracted Israel.
Almighty God is 'incensed' when the Promised Land is fractured: interestingly, several books have been published that have documented the incidences of calamity in an American state every time the USA tried to broker a peace treaty via a land deal between Israel and the PLO. Airplane crashes, tornadoes, flooding – these are just some examples of the calamitous events that have occurred immediately after, or in the interregnum of, the land deal, in the affected American states. So lucid and categorical is the Almighty's message in His intervention to save Eretz Israel for His chosen people that, whatever one's present dialectic, one should take the signals quite seriously as a clear warning to leave Israel well enough alone.
